Transportation & Infrastructure
What do we do for you?
Roads, railways and airports are the largest source of transportation noise, frequently affecting development land for houses, schools and hospitals. Noise sensitive developments adjacent to or affected by transportation noise require the careful assessment of these sources, either by measurement or prediction and often both.
This assessment enables the correct specification of the building envelope (walls, windows, ventilators and roofs) to achieve appropriate internal noise levels in new developments. Here social housing providers are often at the forefront of providing superior internal ambient noise climate for their tenants and require precise specification of glazing and ventilation systems.
New or altered forms of transportation sources near to existing noise sensitive sites also require careful assessment to minimise impact.
Acoustic South East is able to provide detailed advice, based on measurements and computer prediction.
Acoustic South East is able to computer model road noise propagation and plan the best mean of mitigation for noise sensitive areas, including the use of barriers, bunds or low noise road surfaces. This allows new or altered roads to have minimal impact on existing housing and new housing besides existing roads to confirm to current environmental standards.
The noise from rail traffic, including both passenger and freight trains.
Acoustic South East use noise modelling software to predict and assess the levels of noise created by new railway systems, both passenger and freight, and have worked with clients to overcome noise issues which are often critical at night, to enable the achievement of suitable noise levels within residential properties.
If you are unsure whether the Regulations apply to your development or if your site needs sound insulation testing then give us a call and we can advise you.
